“Hope makes our marfan heart beat” Lauriane Janssen (May 9, 1986 – November 20, 2019)

Lauriane Janssen died last night at the age of 33.

Lauriane was a brilliant Belgian researcher who led her career at the University of Oulu in Finland.

Lauriane suffered from Marfan syndrome and was at the forefront of the fight against this disease.

She was responsible for a quarterly review of scientific publications on Marfan syndrome for the journal “Le Cœur et la main”, which was eagerly awaited by specialists.

She was a board member of the Belgian Marfan Syndrome Association, President of the Marfan Europe Network and an active contributor to the F101G’s 101 Marfan Genomes project(see below for her expectations of this project).

Lauriane’s rigor, intelligence, finesse, humanity and humor will be sorely missed.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
