700,000 euros to finance the Ghent & Antwerp teams working on GEMS!
On December 16, 2020, Professors Bart Loeys and Paul Coucke both received more than 700,000 euros in funding from the Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek Fund (FWO) to work in the laboratory on the F101G’s flagship project: the GEMS project! It’s fantastic!

Professor Bart Loeys (co-winner of the Prix Francqui 2020 on the same day) is a pediatric cardiogeneticist at the University of Antwerp and Co-Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the 101 Genomes Foundation.
Professor Paul Coucke is Laboratory Manager of the Center for Medical Genetics at UZ Gent and a member of the Scientific Committee of the 101 Genomes Foundation since 2018.
They are both receiving over 700,000 euros to work together in their laboratories on the ” Genoomwijde epistasis studie voor cardiovasculaire ernst in Marfan syndroom “ project, i.e.
