{"id":2468,"date":"2023-02-27T10:13:52","date_gmt":"2023-02-27T09:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/f101g.org\/?p=2468"},"modified":"2026-08-11T14:09:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T12:09:47","slug":"genome4brussels-door-nassim-versbraegen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/f101g.org\/nl\/genome4brussels-door-nassim-versbraegen\/","title":{"rendered":"Genome4Brussels door Nassim Versbraegen"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sinds 2019 werkt de 101 Genomes Foundation in consortium met drie organisaties gespecialiseerd in bio-informatica, genetica en algoritmen (IB\u00b2, CHG en MLG) aan het <a href=\"https:\/\/f101g.org\/nl\/genome4brussels-ai-genomica-en-zeldzame-ziekten\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Genomes4Brussels-project<\/a> dat medegefinancierd wordt door het Brussels Gewest (Innoviris).  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Genome4Brussels<\/strong><strong> heeft als doel een ecosysteem te cre\u00ebren om de ontwikkeling van bioinformatica tools voor genoomanalyse te optimaliseren en de overdracht naar het grote publiek van de innovatie en kennis verworven tijdens het project te vergemakkelijken.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nassim Vesbraegen, een bioinformaticus bij het (IB)\u00b2, legt uit wat zijn rol is in dit ongebruikelijke consortium.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ludivine: Kun je je academische carri\u00e8re samenvatten?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nassim: Ik heb mijn BA en MA in computerwetenschappen behaald aan de VUB. Tijdens mijn studie heb ik me altijd gericht op AI en biologie. Ik ben nu doctoraatsstudent aan de ULB in de (IB)\u00b2 en de MLG.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div>\n<p><strong>L.: Welke ervaring heb je in het verleden opgedaan en in welk opzicht is dat een pluspunt voor het Genome4Brussels-project?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>N. : Ik heb gewerkt aan voorspellende tools om pathogene bi-locus combinaties en de modificerende varianten binnen deze combinaties te identificeren. Het Genome4Brussels-project bouwt nu voort op deze ervaring door deze tools toe te passen en verder te ontwikkelen in de context van het Marfan-syndroom. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div>\n<p><strong>L.: Kun je ons meer vertellen over de tools waar je momenteel aan werkt?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>N. We hebben nu een snellere en nauwkeurigere versie van VarCoPP gemaakt: de eerste voorspeller van variantcombinaties. Het is een oligo-genetisch voorspellend hulpmiddel dat onderscheid wil maken tussen combinaties van potentieel pathogene varianten en goedaardige varianten. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Ik werk ook aan het opzetten van een cloud-gebaseerde pipeline voor het analyseren van exomen van pati\u00ebnten. Deze pijplijn integreert VarCoPP als een voorspellend hulpmiddel, met behoud van de beveiliging die vereist is voor dit type gevoelige gegevens. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>L.&nbsp;: Wat vindt u van het Genome4Brussels-project?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">N.
