Op woensdag 31 mei 2023 werden Ludivine en Romain uitgenodigd  door Olivier Sokolski en Laurent Poznantek om deel te nemen aan het programma \u201eMeet the Boss\u201d op Radio Judaica om het werk van 101 G\u00e9nomes te presenteren en hun visie op onderzoek naar zeldzame ziekten te delen. <\/p>\n

Tijdens dit programma spraken Ludivine en Romain over het Marfan syndroom en de ontdekking van modificerende genen, wat aan de basis ligt van het onderzoeksmodel dat ze hebben opgezet.<\/p>\n

Dit model is gebaseerd op vier essenti\u00eble pijlers:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Een eerste financi\u00eble pijler met het 101 Fonds van de Koning Boudewijnstichting,<\/li>\n
  2. Een tweede logistieke en operationele pijler met de oprichting van de 101 Genomes Foundation biobank,<\/li>\n
  3. Een derde bioinformaticapijler gebaseerd op de Genomics Cloud van de 101 Genomes Foundation, en tot slot,<\/li>\n
  4. Een vierde pijler is gewijd aan het optimale beheer van de dynamische toestemming van onderzoeksdeelnemers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tijdens het interview werd de mogelijkheid besproken om het 101 Genomes-model ook toe te passen op andere zeldzame ziekten. Dit benadrukte het potentieel van dit model om zoveel mogelijk mensen met een zeldzame ziekte te helpen.<\/p>\n

    Romain en Ludivine maakten van de gelegenheid gebruik om te benadrukken dat onderzoek naar zeldzame ziekten wetenschappers dwingt om te kijken naar biologische mechanismen die ons allemaal be\u00efnvloeden, veel verder dan de specifieke gevallen van mensen die aan een zeldzame ziekte lijden. Dit onderzoek bevordert onze kennis van het menselijk genoom en baant de weg voor de behandeling van zowel zeldzame als veel minder zeldzame ziekten. Daarom hebben mensen met zeldzame ziekten ons zoveel te bieden als beloning voor onze inspanningen om hen te helpen.<\/p>\n
