{"id":2537,"date":"2022-03-24T10:50:48","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T09:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/f101g.org\/genome4brussels-por-emma-verkinderen\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T14:10:52","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T12:10:52","slug":"genome4brussels-por-emma-verkinderen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/f101g.org\/es\/genome4brussels-por-emma-verkinderen\/","title":{"rendered":"Genome4Brussels por Emma Verkinderen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Desde 2019, la Fundaci\u00f3n 101 Genomas participa en el <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/f101g.org\/es\/genome4brussels-ia-genomica-y-enfermedades-raras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proyecto Genomes4Brussels<\/a> cofinanciado por la regi\u00f3n de Bruselas (Innoviris). <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Este proyecto re\u00fane a la Fundaci\u00f3n y a tres organizaciones especializadas en bioinform\u00e1tica, gen\u00e9tica y algoritmos: el <em>Interuniversity Institute of Bioinformatics Brussels<\/em> (IB)\u00b2, el <em>ULB Center of Human Genetic<\/em> (CHG) y el <em>ULB Machine Learning Group<\/em> (MLG).  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Este consorcio ha creado un ecosistema para optimizar el desarrollo de herramientas bioinform\u00e1ticas de an\u00e1lisis gen\u00f3mico que ayuden a m\u00e9dicos e investigadores en el campo de las enfermedades raras.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Emma Verkinderen, bioinform\u00e1tica del (IB)\u00b2, responde a las preguntas de Ludivine y explica su papel en este proyecto innovador.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ludivine &#8211; Emma, \u00bfpuede hablarnos un poco de su carrera acad\u00e9mica?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Emma &#8211; Obtuve una licenciatura en Ciencias de la Bioingenier\u00eda y un m\u00e1ster en Bioinform\u00e1tica en la KU Leuven. Tras licenciarme, hice unas pr\u00e1cticas de cinco meses en una empresa de nueva creaci\u00f3n especializada en gen\u00e9tica humana y enfermedades raras. <\/p>\n<p><strong>L. &#8211; \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 medida su experiencia previa es una ventaja para el proyecto Genome4Brussels?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">E.- Durante mis pr\u00e1cticas, recib\u00ed formaci\u00f3n en gen\u00e9tica, an\u00e1lisis de variantes y <em>aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico<\/em> en el contexto de las enfermedades raras, que son, por supuesto, \u00e1reas de especializaci\u00f3n muy relevantes para el proyecto Genome4Brussels. Tambi\u00e9n adquir\u00ed experiencia t\u00e9cnica, aprendiendo los principales conceptos y las mejores pr\u00e1cticas del desarrollo de aplicaciones web. Estas pr\u00e1cticas han avivado enormemente mi inter\u00e9s por el desarrollo de software bioinform\u00e1tico, as\u00ed que estoy muy contenta de seguir trabajando en un proyecto en el que confluyen la biomedicina y la inform\u00e1tica como bioinform\u00e1tica t\u00e9cnica para el proyecto Genome4Brussels.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>L.- \u00bfPuede contarnos algo m\u00e1s sobre las herramientas en las que est\u00e1 trabajando actualmente?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">E.- Hasta ahora, he trabajado principalmente en <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orval.ibsquare.be\">ORVAL<\/a>, una herramienta bioinform\u00e1tica desarrollada en el Instituto Interuniversitario de Bioinform\u00e1tica de Bruselas (IB)\u00b2. ORVAL es una plataforma en l\u00ednea para el an\u00e1lisis de variantes oligog\u00e9nicas, en la que los usuarios pueden enviar las variantes que hayan encontrado en el genoma de un paciente. ORVAL crea entonces todas las combinaciones dig\u00e9nicas posibles (un par de variantes en dos genes diferentes) y las anota con datos de recursos bioinform\u00e1ticos p\u00fablicos. A continuaci\u00f3n, las anotaciones se utilizan para ejecutar el predictor de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico (VarCoPP) que produce la probabilidad de que cada combinaci\u00f3n dig\u00e9nica sea la causa de la enfermedad. Por \u00faltimo, los resultados se presentan de forma exhaustiva, y el usuario puede realizar an\u00e1lisis adicionales sobre las combinaciones de variantes dig\u00e9nicas de su inter\u00e9s.    <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el marco del proyecto Genome4Brussels, queremos transferir esta herramienta de la infraestructura (IB)\u00b2 a la nube FairGX para garantizar su continuidad. Actualmente estoy preparando la solicitud ORVAL para esta transferencia. <\/p>\n<p><strong>L.- \u00bfQu\u00e9 le parece el proyecto Genome4Brussels?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">E.- Me parece muy interesante ver c\u00f3mo el proyecto Genome4Brussels est\u00e1 creando un ecosistema que centraliza los datos gen\u00f3micos (y su recopilaci\u00f3n) y las herramientas de an\u00e1lisis bioinform\u00e1tico. Esto estimular\u00e1 la investigaci\u00f3n de enfermedades raras y, potencialmente, conducir\u00e1 a diagn\u00f3sticos m\u00e1s eficaces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El hecho de que todas las herramientas y los datos est\u00e9n alojados en la nube es una ventaja adicional clave, ya que la nube puede albergar un gran volumen de datos gen\u00f3micos al tiempo que cumple los principios FAIR de transparencia en el procesamiento de datos y el an\u00e1lisis cient\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed que estoy encantada de formar parte de este proyecto innovador.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Desde 2019, la Fundaci\u00f3n 101 Genomas participa en el proyecto Genomes4Brussels cofinanciado por la regi\u00f3n de Bruselas (Innoviris).
